We are shining the light this week on Kandy Myny of Shelby Township. Kandy is the talented artist behind bit o'whimsey design studio. Kandy has been an artist her whole life but just started her current whimsical style about three years ago. Kandy says she's always evolving and coming up with something new, and of course, getting messy! Her goal is to brighten your home with a whimsical piece of art.
When I became a stay-at-home mom I started painting murals in my kids bedrooms. That led me to doing murals in other peoples homes. But I always had an entrepreneurial spirit. So I started painting canvases and then created a style I love! When I discovered Etsy, a whole new world opened up and I started branding my style. Now, here I am doing something I love and it's been great!
What makes your art work unique or distinctive?
I use many different elements to create a unique style full of texture, color and whimsey.
What do you enjoy doing besides art?
I love traveling, going to our cottage at Higgins Lake, eating out, and spending time with my family.
What do you remember wanting to be when you grew up?
An astronaut or marine biologist! :)
What is your favorite quote you live by?
"It's not the space that counts but the life you live in it"
You can find lots of Kandy's whimsical paintings at Yellow Door, as well as on her website. Stay tuned for more fun and interesting info about Kandy all this week!
