Dory has a background in art and interior design. She pulls inspiration for her work from the seasons, wildlife, the shapes and interior design of the places she hangs out, the exterior man-made textures of the architecture in her midwest world, her wildly supportive husband, 3 crazy kids, and my endlessly creative friends. Dory scours antique shops and yard sales to find elements that she can repurpose, reuse, or upcycle to make her one of a kind Pretty Little Things.
Since 2012, Mailhot and his team have been carving holes in plastic toy dinosaurs and wild animals, hand-painting them vibrant colors, planting succulents in them, and then selling them in local boutiques, markets, and plant nurseries. You may have seen their planters featured on Etsy, at select Nordstrom stores, The Daily Candy, Fab.com and Apartment Therapy. If you are interested in looking at more of their sensational succulent planters you can visit their Etsy here.
Originally founded by Marianne Gardner and Sean Maginity, Bird and Feather made its debut in Spring of 2012 at Unique LA. More recently, Marianne felt the pull of Lake Michigan calling her home to Grand Rapids, MI where she has fallen back in love with the local community and supportive arms of the Midwest. Bird and Feather specializes in high quality, easy to assemble air plant kits inspired by the intersection of nature and modern design. Each kit is designed to inspire a sense of wonder and bring soul healing beauty to even the smallest of places.
