Anna Latos is the creative mind behind Trio Papercraft!
"All of my work, in one way or another, celebrates nature. Whether it's the depths of our lakes or the miles of our shoreline, Michigan's natural features are depicted in exactly the way they have existed for thousands of years. I've been fortunate to experience many of these places firsthand and I hope my work brings back the feelings of serenity in the sand dunes or fond memories at the lake.
My main medium is layered cardstock, where my minimalist style allows you to focus on the subtle 3D shapes. I also dabble in watercolor, graphic design, and photography, and I hope you equally enjoy the results of those experiments."
What inspired you to start creating your work?
I was feeling stifled by my day job (please don't tell my boss) and I missed the art and music classes that I could escape to while in school. Nothing compares to having complete creative control over a piece of art, and what better way to use that than showcasing the natural beauty of the place we're so lucky to call home?
What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
I love hearing my customers' stories about why a certain place is special to them or the reason they chose a piece as a gift. I've heard everything from 1970's summers on Lake Huron to Walloon Lake proposals to Lake Superior off-the-grid housewarmings!
Share one interesting thing about the items you create.
Every piece is to scale and I create the designs based on real data.
