Meet Lisa Gould
She is the gal behind Belle Chase Designs. Lisa alters items with pretty papers making handmade home decor and gifts. She loves everything about the creative process, from planning it out to seeing the end product. When she's not in her craft room, she likes to cook, and try out new recipes, find new restaurants, travel, go to early morning cycle class, and hang out with friends and family.
Why did you choose to partner with Yellow Door to sell your artwork?
I love that Yellow Door supports local artists. I think it’s an awesome store with a great vibe where people can purchase unique gifts.
What makes your artwork unique or distinctive?
I like to take everyday objects and alter them with pretty papers and stamps to make them super cute and useful.
What are you currently working on?
Mostly Christmas signs and ornaments.
Do you have any other interesting hobbies?
My husband and I love going downtown to Eastern Market on Saturday mornings to buy local produce and goods, then finding a new restaurant to try for lunch. There are so many fun things to do in Detroit.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I love to tailgate at MSU football games, even the noon games which require us to be leaving our house by 5:30 am to get our favorite tailgating spot. I love to plan a different menu for each week. We usually have anywhere from 15-30 people come by. We buy season tickets each year with our friends, it’s always a blast! I also love the 5:30 am cycle classes. It’s a great way to start my day, and I can cross it off my to-do list. 😊
Do you have any tips or inspiring words for others?
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind” -Dr. Seuss
The older I get, the truer this feels. 😊
What is your favorite...
Movie: Princess Bride
Board game: Euchre (not a board game, but my favorite none the less)
Best cup of coffee: pretty much any coffee that I drink outside in my backyard.
Ice cream: Butter Pecan
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Lipstick 😊 I always feel better with lipstick on.
What has been the best cultural event you visited in the past year?
In the past year, I have seen Wicked, The Sound of Music, and The Wizard of Oz musicals, all of which were amazing.
What are some of your favorite reads?
Harlan Coben is my current favorite author. His books are suspenseful and hard to put down. I think my favorite might be Deal Breaker, but I have enjoyed every book of his that I have read.
What do you like to listen to?
I always have music playing on Spotify when I am working. I love everything from New Order and Billy Joel to Keane and Pink to Thomas Rhett and Florida Georgia Line. My playlist is all over the map, and I love it that way. 😊
