Updated: Oct 22, 2020

E. Maple Handmade came from humble hobby beginnings and has evolved into a full time career. Megan Attended the College for Creative Studies where she honed her 3D and fiber art skills. Utilizing that creative knowledge, she hand makes each and every one of her unique items with care.

Why did you choose to partner with Yellow Door to sell you artwork? I wanted to be a part of an eclectic, local made marketplace and Yellow Door has the best variety and atmosphere. I spoke to a few other artists and they all love the Yellow Door.

How long have you been creating your work? Since the summer of 2015. Any notable awards or accomplishments? I am currently training to become a certified crochet instructor and have been featured on several prominent Instagram accounts for my yarn and fiber art.

What makes your work unique or distinctive? I try to have fun with it while still using my work to bring attention to organizations I support.

What do you remember wanting to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a fashion designer.

What inspired you to start creating your work? I had quit smoking and needed a distraction. For others struggling with this, I highly encourage a hands on hobby! I've always been artistic and it quickly blossomed into a passion.

What do you love most about the creative process? I love putting the parts together on a new animal and seeing if it all works!

What do you enjoy the least about the business side of creating and selling? Promoting myself.

What do you like to do aside from creating? I love going "up north" and going for walks with my dog, Molly.

Who are some of your favorite Artists? The Vintage Wick, Gilda Snowden, & Fel3000ft Favorite reads? The Last Unicorn is my favorite book!

Quotes you love or live by? "The world is so full of a number of things, I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings" - Robert Lewis Stevenson

Any random fun facts or interesting things you'd like to share? I volunteer with Tigerlily Cat Rescue and once rescued baby opossums from there poor mamma's pouch on the road. She was already gone, but I was able to save the four babies!

Are there any charities you support? HAVEN.

You can see more from Megan Craft of E. Maple Handmade online and at Yellow Door Art Market.
